Bereavement Loss and Grief

Feeling like you are suffocated by your grief?

Bereavement/Grief can be the death of a loved one or loss of a child from a miscarriage or still birth.

People also grieve life transitions such as medical conditions, disabilities, chronic or terminal illnesses, divorce or relationship break-ups, job termination, retirement, empty nesting, or relocating.

Any of these life transitions create physical, behavioral and cognitive changes.

“Time Heals All Wounds” is a myth and is not true!

When in time grief doesn’t pass, this adage only reinforces feelings of depression, anxiety, incompetency, and failure.

Often, those in mourning will eventually feel stuck as time passes and grief remains at the same intensity.

“My friends and family don’t get it; they just want me to feel better.”

Prolonged grief affects you physically and mentally.

Symptoms of prolonged grief include anger outbursts, loss of appetite, depression, panic attacks, intense anxiety, difficulty focusing, feelings of restlessness, inability to complete task, intrusive thoughts, irritability, withdrawal and isolation from others, and low self-esteem.

These problems don’t disappear over time. They require help beyond advice from friends and family.
